Who can honestly say that they have never wished they could find a way to bridge communication gaps? Some of these communication gaps become huge barriers to effectiveness. But the problem is not always what you would expect. And it is solvable!
For example, recently I worked with a manufacturing team where there were several fractured relationships.
As an engineer we can feel a strong temptation to work out a process that will “fix” this problem. Considering that some of those fractured relationships had persisted for over 15 years, the organisation needed a new strategy to resolve the issues.
The Integro process, which is foundational to Bridgeworks, rarely lets me down. Indeed, after 100’s of programs, the system continues to deliver results beyond participants’ initial expectations.
Teams are social networks built on connections between individuals. The more we can enter deeper one-on-one conversations, designed to get people out of their comfort zones, the stronger a team will be. By a stronger team I mean one that can achieve more through effective collaboration.
So What Exercises Work Best To Bridge Communication Gaps?
- The best results come from challenges that target and strengthen relationships. We refer specifically to those relationships that are ineffective for some reason.
- Having good quality data around how people see you is a powerful tool that opens up honest and often robust conversations
- Back to nature & experiential learning can achieves spectacular results. Nature is a great healer; that is one of the reasons why I run the process as a residential program, away from the city and distractions.
- Also 50% of the program is outdoors and experiential; in other words it is practical and fun.
Is Your Team Ready To Step Out Of Its Comfort Zone Into The “Learning Zone”?
The feedback after our programs is that we create a context where participants can access their own learning zone without fear. And they experience the power of alternative ways of communicating and the satisfaction of better results. Even reluctant and somewhat cynical participants recognise the potential ahead of them when they apply what they have discovered.
