Last week’s high seas drama reminded me of how many businesses face unexpected challenges to survive or thrive.
Drift, Survive or Thrive? Are You Losing Control?
9am, Monday 4th of July. 3 ordinary guys sitting down for a coffee at the start of another mundane day. Call comes through – a 60,000 tonne ship has lost power and is heading for the rocks of Royal National Park. Could any action from anyone stop the looming disaster? Was it possible for a team to regain control?
The crew from tugboat SL Diamantina: engineer Marius Fenger, ship’s captain Brad Lucas and deckhand Alex Alsop had a quick meeting to decide on path of action – having to think quickly on their feet.
:h2>Dealing With Challenges in Your Market
The analogy here of course is that the marketplace is currently presenting a new set of challenges – staff shortages, rising interest rates, rising cost of fuel and supplies….
The water is getting rougher, the fog is thickening! The risk of losing control and of drifting into more and more trouble is forcing us to think and act differently. Are you ready for smart and fast action?
Many businesses leaders may have felt like the captain of the ship. They, their team, their business seem to be heading for the rocks. Could this be your business? Is your team? Is this your leadership? Could your business be slowly drifting to the rocks, paralysed by anxiety and a lack of quick decisions? Does it really have to be? Can we get back into implementing effective strategies and operating successfully?
Yes, We Can Get back On Course
One of the great rewards working with leaders, teams and businesses is working alongside them and helping them see through the fog towards more successful outcomes, alternatives and at least a plan to help navigate these business obstacles. A little external clear thinking and intervention can help get the ship back on course.
Since joining The Network of Consulting Professionals (The NCP), I have built a wide and experienced team around me who brings business specialist skills and expertise such as finance, technology, sales and marketing.
This team helps support me to work alongside businesses, teams and leaders who either want to grow or want to avoid the ‘reefs’ that await. There is a great advantage having an outside partner who can see opportunities (and threats) that can’t be seen when one is too close to their business.
Let’s talk if you are wanting to better >navigate your business into the future. Ask me about the success of the Business Mentoring Program (BMP).
