So, you thought that everyone was going to be enthusiastic about heading back to the office! Have you considered how to reconnect, and re-energise your team with fun?
Do you think your team members are ready to get to know each other again? In particular, how about those who are new to your team?
Working together face-to-face (at least part time), for the first time for some, changes the dynamics of engagement and effectiveness. Several of my clients have new employees that many others in the same team have never met face to face.
And have you injected some fun into your team over what has been a tough COVID period?
Again, several of my clients have done that in a ‘virtual’ format, but it is not the same as face-to-face engagement.
Face-To-Face Collaboration, With Fun
Slowly the chains are loosening. The next month or two the stars are aligning and working face-to-face is becoming a reality again. Supporting the team is a leader’s challenge more than ever. It is time to make sure you help re-energise your team.
Recently I worked with an IT business who is growing rapidly in their market space. Many in the team of over thirty people had not met others in the business. As a result, they needed to connect and engage effectively.
The session I conducted, allowed time to establish a framework around our differences using the framework of the DISC behavioural tool.
The Power Of Learning And Engagement
The team was having so much fun using this process, I decided to break them up into their behavioural groups based on the DISC. Their task then was to put together a strategy to maximise their connection with an opposite behavioural style. There was no need to say ‘make sure you have fun in the process’ as it was on for young and old!
One comment made to me at the end of the session was:
“The session helped me (as a newcomer to the business) to quickly get to know others but see that this going to be a cool business to work for”
Inject Fun Into The Business, Re-energise Your Team
I believe more and more people are just wanting some time to down tools, have fun and re-engage with their teammates. In fact, this seems to be a key motivation to come back to the office.
